Centro de Excelencia en Geotermia de Los Andes (CEGA)
The Andean Geothermal Center of Excellence (CEGA) is a research center at the Universidad de Chile specializing in geothermal energy, fluid geochemistry, water-rock interaction, tectonics, and reservoir modeling. CEGA contributes scientific expertise in Andean geothermal systems and processes associated with deep fluids, particularly those relevant to the sustainable extraction of critical minerals from salt flats and geothermal brines.
Role in the project
- Development of geological models for resource quantification in salt flats.
- Research on alternative lithium sources, including geothermal brines and clays.
- Support for reservoir modeling and hydrogeochemical process analysis.
- Co-leadership in the institutionalization and communication strategy of the BRIDGE Institute.
- Training of advanced human capital through student involvement and applied research.
